The city of Cobija was created by Supreme Decree On September 24, 1938 during the government of the President Germán Busch.
Pando hides in his scene the existence of 3 ethnics, the production of chestnut, the War of the Acre and Nicolás Suárez's memory that defended with his army to the separatists in the port of Bahia.
Pando is an immense forest, so immense that from the East to the western part, you can see several rivers which currents - that are navigable - register more of 3 thousand square kilometres. The principal artery of internal communication is the river Orthon followed by the Madre de Dios, Manuripi, Tahuamanu and the Abuná, who run longitudinally for the center of the territory and integrate to other regions.
This geographical characteristic allows that the fluvial communications would be the most used, since there is very obvious the absence of terrestrial possibilities inside the region. Easier route is to accede to Pando through the brasilian road system.
GEOGRAPHICAL ASPECTS The department of Pando it's placed in the north end of Bolivia with an area of 63.827 kms 2. It has limits in the northern part with Brazil, in the southern part with La Paz, the East with Beni and Brazil and in the western part with Peru.
TEMPERATURE The climate is warm and moderated with rains that come up to 1.800 mm. per year, this allow the growth of big extensions of forest zones.
POPULATION The population of Pando reaches 37.785 habitants with a density of 0.59habitants per Km 2.
